In 2015, the Alpha Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Purdue University celebrated the centennial of their founding in 1915. In addition, their mortgage was due. It was the perfect time for the chapter to honor their past and secure their future by holding a Centennial fundraising campaign to put the Alpha Chi Chapter back on solid financial ground. After careful study and assessment, the members of the Alpha Chi Facility Corporation Board have developed a two-part plan to cover the critical needs of the Alpha Chi chapter house at 607 Russell Street. The primary objective of the fundraising campaign was debt reduction, then a smaller, more flexible mortgage could be negotiated for the remaining balance.
The Theta house requires extensive upgrades and improvements. Special funding was needed to accomplish this. Improvements include:

Dining Room
Replace 1960s-era tables and chairs, bring seating capacity up to 96, replace vinyl flooring and install under-table outlets to accommodate computers, remove 1960s-era ceiling tiles, and upgrade lighting, wall, and window treatments.

Living Room
The main gathering space has not been upgraded in 12 years. A professional space planner will
guide the chapter in needed furniture selection and the best design for this large hospitality space to increase seating space.

Foyer and Courtyard Corridors
Refurbish the foyer—the first impression for visitors—and update the wall treatments and area carpet in the corridors.

First Floor Educational Spaces
Repurpose the conversation room to create a group study room to create more study options in the study parlor, the library, and the reading room alcove. Included will be increasing lighting, electrical connectivity for all spaces, and updating some furnishings, carpet and wall treatments.
